Dale Gurney
Dale attended SACS junior school and matriculated from Woodridge in 1990 followed by a year of national service where he was a chef for the 4 Reconnaissance Unit in Langebaan.
He then went on to Study and qualify as a plumber in Cape Town before heading to Knysna to run a plumbing business with his brother Dean.
In 2001 Dale headed to Australia where he worked in different jobs from irrigation on golf courses to plumbing and fire hydrant systems in high rise apartment blocks. He also did a stint for the Gold Coast City Council as a plumbing inspector. The next move was then to London where two and a half years were spent in the plumbing business partnership in London where we specialised in plumbing and complete home and office renovations.
Dale returned to SA six years ago as there is no place like SA. An awesome country with great potential.
On a lighter note, Dale has spent many years paddling at a competitive level, but now finds more enjoyment mountain biking, running and out door activities at “competitive” social level. Exercising to keep fit and build up a thirst while enjoying good company of family and friends.
Dean Gurney
Dean attended junior school at SACS and matriculated at Woodridge in PE, before completing a post-matric year at Bishops. He obtained his B.Comm at UCT in 1993. Up until 1997, Dean had varying employment experiences (some bordering on the comical), including selling sweets, bar work, accounting and selling beer for SAB. From 1997 Dean and Dale started and operated a successful plumbing business in Knysna before deciding that it was time to see the world in 2001 (but not before qualifying as a sanitary engineer!).
Dean has recently returned from overseas, where he worked as project manager, overseeing projects ranging from IT rollouts to acquisitions and integration of competitors.
Dean has returned home, believing that there’s no place like home, and hopes to be a part of something special in the new, “new” SA – and is especially looking forward to creating another successful venture with his boet.
